It has been exactly one month since I came back to Hongkong. Antarctica has become my symbol and topic. My friends all cared about the messages I posted on Wechat. I showed them the pictures of Antarctica, answered questions about Antarctica and met our Antarctic forum members…… Antarctica, which is a desirable and curious place, just linked with me.

At night, I seemed to see the childish penguins all over the mountains, smell the stink of penguins’ excrements and see the moonlight of Antarctica which needs seven years’ bath. I heard the music played by team members, the sonorous opera and wonderful academic speeches. I ate croissants everyday without getting tired of and had the birthday cake of our team members……

Antarctica is so desirable due to the mystery caused by its unique. It is remote and is covered with ice. It doesn’t have any national boundaries, human beings and plunders. And it has petroleum, coal mine, penguins, whales and great Antarctic Treaty……

What did the expedition to Antarctica give us? Thinking and speechless. In the face of the vast and ancient Antarctica, all descriptions seem to be pale and feigned. How painful it is!

In fact for me, I didn’t feel exciting as expected when seeing the Antarctica. Maybe it’s because that I had too much imagination before. We sailed on the ocean and landed on Antarctica continuously for several days. We attended the lectures held by scientists every day. (Actually I didn’t understand what they said). We heard the sound of strong waves and wind on the jolting vessel every night. We saw groups of baby penguins waiting for molting to meet the cruel life and penguin parents who were trying their best to feed children. We saw the Antarctic Peninsula being barren even in warm seasons and the broken icebergs. I still touched a lot by seeing these. All nice feelings and elements were reflected in Antarctica, including the tenacity and hardship of life, animals with the equality of males and females, the most loving penguin parents who raised children, the best model of natural protection and the example of cooperation and peace.

Each life experience has something worth to be appreciated. Antarctica impressed us deeply because of its unique, which let us appreciate our life. I remembered many years ago an interview of Wang Shi, who was fond of climbing. He said that when he was in danger and felt difficult to drink during climbing, he found out that his daily life is so happy in reality.

I have the same feeling too! We should cherish the simple but busy daily life. Workers are beautiful. I should no longer complain!

Because I have been to Antarctica. Antarctica, it’s an eternal topic!
